The meeting was a great success and afforded excellent networking with like-minded colleagues from Latin America, Europe and the UK. Issues discussed included community policing initiatives, drug education in schools, harm reduction initiatives such as heroin trials and safe injecting facilities. Outcomes of the meeting included a declaration about the ‘way forward’ for the UPP (Police Pacifer Units), including a re-think about the so-called ‘war on drugs’.
